Computershare Limited is a CSD (Central Securities Depository) Participant under STRATE, the only CSD Participant in South Africa which is not a registered bank.

In addition, our South African Outsourcing service offers a superior all-round, competitive and cost-efficient service to JSE member firms and others. Computershare Outsourcing Ltd is the only truly independent back office outsourcing alternative for stockbrokers, without ties to any other broking firm or bank.

In 2004, the Black Management Forum Investment Company acquired 26% of the equity of Computershare South Africa in an unconditional deal which is not subject to performance targets. The Black Management Forum Investment Company plays an active role in the process of growing our client base, transforming our management team and formulating procurement and equity employment policies. 64% of the equity of Computershare South Africa is held by Computershare plc UK and the remaining 10% equally by Old Mutual plc and FirstRand Ltd.
